14.3. Future Tenses

Майбутній час в англійській (Future Tenses)— це як планування подорожі: іноді ви точно знаєте, що буде, іноді лише здогадуєтеся, а іноді просто мрієте.

В англійській є кілька способів говорити про майбутнє: кожен «future tense» — як різна карта: одна показує маршрут, інша — прогноз погоди, третя — ваші надії.

2. Be going to

Фокус: плани та наміри, очевидні передбачення

• I am going to bake cookies this evening — chocolate chips, of course.
  
• Look at those clouds! It is going to pour any minute.
  
• We are going to start a movie marathon this weekend — popcorn included.

3. Future Continuous

Фокус: дія буде відбуватися у конкретний момент у майбутньому, фон для іншої ситуації

• Tomorrow at 10 am, I will be jogging in the park — or trying not to trip.
  
• At 7 pm tonight, we will be having dinner while the rain will be falling outside.
  
• She will be presenting her project while her cat will be interrupting via Zoom.
  

4. Future Perfect

Фокус: дія завершиться до певного моменту

• By Friday, I will have cleaned the garage — treasure hunt included.
  
• He will have finished writing his book by the end of the year — dragons may or may not be included.
  
• By the time we arrive, the flight attendants will have served three rounds of snacks.

5. Future Perfect Continuous

Фокус: тривалість дії до майбутнього моменту

• By 6 pm, I will have been studying for 4 hours straight — powered by coffee.
  
• Next month, she will have been training for the marathon for 6 months — and probably dreaming in running shoes.
  
• By the end of the concert, we will have been dancing for 3 hours — my legs already know it.
